b5 Business Bloggers on Face-to-face, GTD Workflow and Freelancing Mojo

Here’s another tour around the b5media Business blogs.
Brendon Connelly of Slacker Manager fame talks about the importance of face-to-face interaction. It’s so true.
There are many things that work just fine in writing, on the phone or by video conference. But there are intangibles that make up a strong relationship that you can’t fudge. When you have the chance to meet in person, do it. And when you’re about to fire, reprimand or reassign someone, you owe it to them to do it in person if you possibly can.
Glen Stansberry of LifeDev writes a pretty good summary of one of the mainstays of David Allen’s Getting Things Done: The Workflow. He highlights the four main actions in the workflow of dealing with the stuff that threatens to take over your life and your work.
Rico Mossesgeld in Contract Worker offers some good tips about staying ahead of the game while freelancing. He reminds us that just developing a relationship with a client isn’t enough. You have to repeatedly deliver the goods "on time and to spec." He also advises freelancers to overestimate the time a project will take. This leaves room for work that wasn’t anticipated on the project, and some wiggle room if the client negotiates you down.
I’m loving the time I spend visiting the other business bloggers. My biggest fear in joining b5 media was that the other business bloggers would be lame and boring. Turns out I needn’t have worried.
