Bad Beat Contest! Let’s go!

So the entry period is still open for the bad beat contest, which includes World Poker Tour sponsored prizes of card decks and backpacks and shirts and stuff. Entry is easy: submit a bad beat story, the tale of the worst beat you put on or received from someone at the table, preferably for a lot of money. Let’s not just hear about the two-outer you hit, but make it creative, eh? You still have until the end of this week to get something in, and the field is pretty wide open at this point. What do you have to lose?

There seem to be two kinds of bad beat story: the online ones and the live game ones. Online poker is such a free for all these days that you see quads over quads all the time. That move is then followed up by the chat room whining of the loser typing in all caps and showing *** ***** *****, unless they more creatively spell the curse words to break through. I prefer the good old at the table, in your face bad beat, where somebody flips the table or insults the person personally or so on, so forth.

Let’s get these entries going people!

In the name of sick beats, here’s another at the hands of our buddy Gus Hansen, for nearly $200,000 on a European high stakes cash game show, vs Eric Seidel.

    Man, that was disgusting.

I was actually dealing out a hand last night. The raiser moves all-in with top two pair and the caller is an idiot and needed runner-runner to make a straight for the win.

I jokingly said that the Ten-Queen he needed was going to come.

The Turn was a Ten. The River was a Queen.

    Fucking brutal!

  2. eli says:

i had AQ of hearts, flop was AQ6, i slowplay and it’s all checked, a 6 on the turn, a guy raises i reraise he goes all in i call. A on river, so i have aces full of queens which i figured to be the nuts. but he turns over pocket 6’s for four of a kind.

  3. Played in an 800 dollar multi-table buy in… We are in the first freakin level. Three people in the pot all for 350 chips. I have pocket 3’s. Flop comes 3,7,7.

Guy opens up the bet with 800. I call the 800. Guy to my left re-raises to 1,500. First guy to act calls the 1,500…. I then move all-in. Guy to my left calls. The first guy to act folds. The guy turns over 6,7 off suit for three 7’s. Turn comes 8. River comes another 7 for a four of kind 7’s.

    I wanted to cry.

I then settle down to try to finish the first level of the tournament. Complete the first level and move the third hand of the second level. I get pocket Q’s under the gun and raise to 400. Douchebag who was 5th to act re-raises to 1100. I re-raise to 2,600 hundread and he moves me all in. I actually think I might be beat at this point. He turns over pocket jacks and I show pocket queens. Flop comes 2,7,J and I just left.

40 mins and 800 dollar buy in later and I am out. Wost hour of pocker I have had in a long long time.
