I’m all for “getting back on the horse” when you fall off, but participating in an event that almost paralyzed me? I’d have to think twice. Artrell Woods of Oklahoma State isn’t thinking twice – he’s ready to get back on the field. Bad. Ass.
Woods wasn’t actually injured on the football field. Last summer, he was working out and tripped while in the weight room. The weights he was carrying landed on him and dislocated his spine.
Not his shoulder. Not his ankle. His freaking SPINE.
Doctor’s weren’t sure he would ever walk again, let alone play football. However, after three hours of intense surgery and 12 days in the hospital, Woods went home…walking. Now that’s some amazing spirit.
Woods was cleared to start practicing again with the team for spring training, although he was involved in non-contact training. He hopes that he can start playing again this fall.
“It’s huge to have him again,” quarterback Zac Robinson said. “We’re excited to have him back. It’s an unbelievable story to come back from that type of injury.”
