In 2008, Bally Total Fitness members raised over $230,000 for Augie’s Quest and they look to top that this year. From now through August 31, anyone can tribute at a Bally fitness club and they’ll receive a free guest pass to Bally for you or a friend. You can also make donations online.

“Bally is dedicated to raising ALS awareness and helping Augie’s Quest fund research for a cure,” said Mike Sheehan, CEO of Bally Total Fitness. “We believe in the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle and encourage everyone to come to Bally to improve their fitness while supporting a deserving cause.”
If you haven’t joined a gym yet, this is a great opportunity to try out Bally and contribute to worthwhile charity. There are about 300 Bally Total Fitness centers around the country. So you are sure to be able to find a location near you.
Personally, I have been in a variety of Bally locations in several states and it’s a pretty solid gym. Obviously, they vary from location to location, but they generally have up-to-date equipment and an array of classes to choose from. Getting guest passes is a terrific way to try out the gyms in your area to find the right one for you before making any sort of monetary commitment.
Augie’s Quest, MDA’s fast-track ALS research initiative, is an aggressive, cure-driven effort singularly focused on finding treatments and cures for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
