Barry Sanders & All No Super Bowl Team

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports has put together a great list of All Timers that have no Super Bowls to their credit. Barry Sanders hits home for me, because he is a Detroit Lion and that is the team the Squibster proudly if somewhat insanely roots for.
Barry was a one man highlight reel and finally just walked away from the team. He was soft spoken to the bitter end and never really cared about records. He was short, but strong with freaky big calves.
Some of the other players on the list may surprise you. How about Steve Largent? Didn’t he win a Super Bowl? Then there is Gary Anderson, Willie Roaf, or Deacon Jones. They must have won something? Deacon Jones was one of my favorite players.
If sacks had been an official statistic when Jones was playing, he might have set the career record for them. As it is, he coined the term “sack” and was part of the famed “Fearsome Foursome” with the Los Angeles Rams. In short, he might be the best player to never make a Super Bowl, the captain of this team.

Deacon Jones was unstoppable for the Rams
Do you remember Dick Butkus, Tommy Nobis, or Merlin Olsen? They didn’t win either, but then the National Football League is such a team sport that you can’t really hold it against any of these guys. They were all great players.
