Barter Marketing – Marketing on a Budget

If you’re entering the marketing world without a wad of cash at your disposal, chances are that you are interesting in learning how to market on a budget. One way to do so is via barter marketing.

If you are marketing a specific product, consider using the product itself to launch your marketing campaign. For example, if you are marketing wall calendars, you can trade wall calenders for advertising. You’d be surprised how many companies and individuals will be open to such a deal.

Online, especially on the blogosphere, barter marketing works very well. Contact a blogger, offer a few free products in exchange for a blog post about your product. The blog post could be a press release, text that you author or simple a product review by the blogger. At the end of the day, you’ve marketed on the internet without spending any money out of your pocket.

But don’t limit barter marketing to the internet. It also works well in the brick and mortar setting. For example, if you own a delivery company, you may be able to trade an inclusion of a coupon on each delivery for advertising time in your local newspaper or on a radio station.

The possibilities are endless with barter marketing.
