Charities Complain about Clunkers Program

The Cash for Clunkers program has allowed many families to trade in their older, fuel-inefficient cars for newer, environmentally friendly vehicles while saving a significant amount of cash in the process. However, several charities that have traditionally relied on car donations have found that the program has put a severe dent in their ability to get cars to needy families.
One such organization is the Christian Automotive Repair Support based in Niceville, Florida, one that has already provided more than 600 refurbished vehicles to those who would otherwise be unable to afford cars. C.A.R.S. receives donations of cars, repairs them, and then distributes them to local families.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America also have a similar program, one that has also experienced a significant slowdown in the amount of people donating their old cars to charity. According to the program’s national manager, the number of vehicles being donated to the program has almost come to a complete halt.

Well HELLO everyone, Geed is the problem!!!
Yes, cash for clunkers is hurting charity car donation, just the way the politicians were told it would when the program was first drafted. They were asked to give the c4c cars to charity and allow the charity to decide the best use of it. Cars in poor shape would be scraped. Cars in good shape would be sold or given to the poor. Our concerns were completely ignored.
