Be Reminded – You Need A Privacy Policy
Google Adsense updated their Terms for publishers weeks ago…
“We’ve also added some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers’ use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future.”
They followed up a few weeks later offering a link to help;
“Unfortunately, we can’t suggest any privacy policy language for your specific site, as all sites are set up differently and laws may vary across different countries. You might want to review online resources such as the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI)…”
Jensense posted a wonderful aid and I’d suggest you take a look. Jen also said;
“Don’t forget you now need to have a privacy policy on all your AdSense sites, this isn’t something that is optional, and when you agreed to the new terms, you agreed to do this too. I don’t know how strict they will be policing this new change to the terms, but it is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to protecting your AdSense account. You don’t want a black mark against your account because you haven’t done this.”
If Jen says it, I’d pay attention…

Is it necessary to post the new terms on your first blog page or can you add that into your “Disclaimer” page like I’ve done?
Just my personal opinion but I’d make sure it is easily found at least in the form of a link on the front page like your disclaimer page.

Thnx for your response! Just to be sure that nothing goes wrong I’ve put the Privacy Policy on a single page like my disclaimer! ;)
Would someone kindly break this down for me and tell me HOW I’m supposed to do a Privacy Policy and why. Someone told me a blog was like a journal. No one ever told me anything about having to develop a Privacy Policy for a blog. This makes me want to dropout of AdSense altogether.
