I am always amazed by all of the details that I forget about or look over when it comes to planning a major event. The organizing committee for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have secured more than 5,000 translators who will provide service in 53 languages in addition to the official languages, French and English.
I think that’s pretty outstanding and, of course, absolutely necessary. It’s this sort of thing that reminds me of why I love the Olympics so much – it’s about people of all backgrounds coming together to celebrate excellence and the human spirit. It’s incredible!
