Ben Wallace made his name while playing for the Detroit Pistons. According to numerous reports, Ben Wallace has agreed to return to Detroit and play for the Pistons once again.
Wallace will reportedly sign a $1.3 million contract for one year. The contract should become official by the end of next week.
Between the 1999-2000 season and the 2005-06 season, Wallace was one of the best defensive players in the league for the Pistons. He averaged at least 11.3 rebounds per game in each of those seasons. In the 2004 playoffs, he helped Detroit win the NBA championship.
Since leaving the Pistons to sign a large free agent deal with the Chicago Bulls, Wallace’s stats have slowly but surely plummeted. Last year, while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he averaged 2.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 23.5 minutes per game.
With the Pistons, Wallace is expected to play a backup role. Detroit has a lot of young, talented players but the 34-year-old Wallace will likely be able to carve out a consistent role.
