Former Olympian, Bernard Lagat easily won the Men’s 5000m event last night at the US Track and Field Qualifying Meet in Eugene, Oregon to earn himself a third trip to the Olympics. Lagat was born in Kenya, but became an American citizen in 2004. He is the reigning world champion in this event and won the Bronze Medal in Sydney and the Silver Medal in Athens. Is it time for a Gold?

Also qualifying for Beijing are Matt Tegenkamp and Ian Dobson. The last time an American won the Men’s 5000m in the Olympics was in 1964.
