The iconic yellow price tag of the Best Buy logo is losing its prominence. The new Best Buy logo doesn’t completely eliminate it, but it’s definitely not the show-stopper it once was.
What do you think of the new Best Buy Logo?
It reminds me of another logo. It might be an old logo, but I can’t put my finger on it. Any thoughts?

For having such a successful organization, this logo makes no sense to me. Not only does the new logo look like anyone else’s, they also changed up their tag within the new logo, making it a more difficult transition to the new brand. Is this their effort to put less attention on the price tag and more on the value of their products? Should we expect higher prices?…
Hi Jeff. I think that’s exactly what it is. I believe they are trying to bring a more upscale image to the store and downplay the “price is right” mentality. It’s Wal-Mart trying to become Nordstrom. I wrote a post about it: http://snurl.com/4folh
They’re experimenting with more than just the logo. We visited their lab store last month–check out our impressions here:

I believe the new logo communicates a more socially minded, approachable Best Buy. Certainly many people find purchasing computers, TVs, and tech-related products a daunting experience.
The old logo looks austere and bargain-basement cheap. Competing strictly on price isn’t a viable long-term business strategy in my opinion. Consumers care more about just low prices, they want personalized service. Read my post on this topic: http://www.darryljonckheere.com/blog/?p=58
