‘Bible Codes’ Predict A Comet Will Smash into us in 2012

HistorychannelI actually think this post is appropriate for April 1st because this seems like a big joke to me, but perhaps my readers know more about this than I do.

I love the History Channel, most of my TV watching occurs on that channel or the science channel. Today, I stumbled in this show (don’t buy this DVD, I just couldn’t find another link to the show) about a code that has supposedly been embedded in the hebrew text of the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament. This was the first I had ever heard of such a thing.

Apparently, whoever wrote those books was an extraordinary person (or persons). The author(s) had the ability to know the future and then embed their knowledge of these events which have yet to occur into the text of the Bible using a very sophisticated code. This code is so sophisticated, you actually need present day computers to decipher it.

Using some sort of ’scientifically verified’ mathematical algorithm, ‘researchers’ are running a Windows program (it may be included in Vista, try looking under ‘Accessories’) that will coax more information from the text of the Bible. All you have to do is type in a search term like ‘world, trade, center, tower, tower’ along with some numbers (I have no idea where those come from) and out pops what looks like the solution to a word search puzzle:

This is a representation of the output of one of those windows programs. Apparently, it is the detail of the predictions that everyone is so excited about. For instance, it mentions airplanes and Osama bin Laden by name.

Curiously, this same information can be obtained by running this algorithm on Vanilla Ice’s repertoire. Perhaps Vanilla Ice helped write the Torah. That would explain much about the current state of religion.

Well, guess what? That’s not all.

There’s a comet that is predicted to hit us in 2012 which is to bring us to ‘The End of Days’. Not surprisingly, there is also a prediction from this code that a comet WON’T hit us then.

Isn’t that convenient?

This is the first I’ve ever heard of this stuff. Anyone else out there know about this? My immediate reaction is that it’s a bunch of crap. A red flag goes up immediately when proponents of this stuff start screaming about how it’s ’scientifically verified’, whatever that means.

If I remember correctly, didn’t the ancient Jews, from which the first five books of the Bible came, follow an oral tradition of passing down their knowledge from one generation from the next? Or am I confusing that with the Talmud? If the first five books of the Bible were propagated using spoken words, then I find it incredible that there is a code embedded in that text because the words would change from one telling to the next, as anyone who’s ever played a game of telephone can attest.

If they weren’t handed down orally, then the authors of those books, in order to embed future events within them, would have had to work at – not just telling the story at hand – but to also cleverly hide text within those words. So clever that only 21st century computers could decipher.

Why hide these at all? Why use a code at all? This is important information, why would there be a need to hide it in any fashion? Am I missing something? Oh right, this is April 1st.

Whew!

I’d love to hear what you guys think. We have until 2012 to sort this out. Or not.

  1. i have come up with a outrageous idea that we should endeavor to be nice and give up mindless sarcasm. people have many ideas and i respect them but not necesarily believing them. GOD is the author of science, logic. and truth. this i believe. but you have the GOD given right to not believe. i love everybody on this planet. love is the antidote to war and murder.

  2. 2012 doesn’t worry me. i trust GOD. i trust HIS will in all things. my belief is that GOD values life and will protect us. the people that ended their earthly life with a disaster are in a much better place: heaven paradise .

Revelation 21:10 Then he instructed me, Do not seal up what was written, for the time of fulfillment is near. And when that time comes, all doing wrong will do it more and more; the vile will become more vile; good men will be better; those who are holy will continue on in greater holiness.”
Revelation 21:22 No temple could be seen in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are worshiped in it everywhere.
2 Peter 3:3 First, I want to remind you that in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of, and laugh at the truth. This will be there line of argument: So Jesus promised to come back, did he? He’ll never come! Why as far back as anyone can remember
everything has remained exactly as it was since the first day of creation.”
2 Peter 5,6 They deliberately forget this fact: that God did destroy the world with a mighty flood, long after He had made the heavens by the Word of his command, and had used the waters to form the earth and surround it. And God has commanded that the earth and heavens be stored away for a great bonfire at the judgement day, when all ungodly men will perish.

Either you believe or you don’t, but you must admit that all the evidence pointing towards things coming to an end is kind of scary. I truly believe in God, I have had too much happen in my life not to, dying twice, voices, dreams, etc. Nostradamus, who has made many accurate predictions, says 12-21-2012 is a critical date. Also, Myans, Egyptians have the same date as the end of their calendar. Scientist say this is the time that all of the planets line up, which happens every 26,000 years and the last time was the end of the ice age, and is linked to cataclysmic events.

  5. RobW says:

Warmwood is on its way…Great devistating earthquakes are on their way….the antichrist is on his way….Economic strife is here and getting worse every day…..
The world is longing for a man with answeres…

  6. Jesus child says:

yes this is to all the curious people who is wandering about these bible codes that predict the 2012 comet first of all i would like to say that nobody knows the second coming of JESUS CHRIST but all will bow down when he does come indeed we are not in tribulation yet but all will know when the time is to come..the prophesies are true but the bible codes are not the Lord is true and very straight forward he is not a GOD of confusion everything that he wants you to know is recorded take the time to read and understand ask the father to interpret it into your heart he will and you may understand..

  7. RobW says:

It is true..no one knows the *hour* Jesus will return…but we can know the times and the seasons of his return. Bible code prophecies that are challenging and that predict world colamity…do not do so by predicting Jesus return.

In those last days the Revelation of Christ prophesies a falling star (warmwood) will indeed strike the earth and destroy many. Coupling this with the writtings of Nostradamus…the Myan calendar…and Bible code predictions….it is compelling and hard to explain away.

When A huge earthquake strikes Calif in 2010…as predicted…you had better get ready for the worst.

  8. Tim says:

I agree, if a major earthquake hits California in 2010 we should be prepared for 2012. All of the items mentioned in the previous post do make it hard to ignore what will happen in 2012, especially if the earthquake hits in 2010.

Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted a major earthquake will happen in California in 2012 and that everything West of the San Andreas Fault Line will break off into the ocean.

  9. John Gallion says:

Regardless of what happens (or doesn’t happen) in 2012, we were told by the Lord Yeshua to be aware of the times and seasons we are in. It is clear to me that we are now in those “last days”. How long they last is unknown. Could last for only a few years – could last for a couple decades. We do know that the “events” will come closer and closer like birth pangs and that there will be numerous “false start” end-of-the-world events that will both prepare the righteous and fool and frighten the unrighteous. 2012 is probably one of those “birth pangs”, just like the terrorist attacks of 9/11 were and the current global economic troubles. Whatever happens will scare a lot of people but it won’t be the “end of the age”…not yet. Like Y2K, many people will then be fooled into doubting the imminent return of the Lord and fall away from faith. Too many “cry wolf” scenarios will have this effect over time.
OR something terrible will happen in 2012 but not “the end” and many will breath a sigh of relief and think it was just a false alarm and that nothing bad will happen again…and then it does, catching most people unprepared. “When they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes.”
We’ll just have to wait and see….

  10. Andre says:

Not sure about alot of things, but I am VERY Sure of GOD. I do believe in JESUS CHRIST and I think that we ALL can use our computers to help one another in so many ways.

We have all had experiences that make us feel the way we do, but aside from our different expericenses, we are ALL the same.

When Jesus Does come back, WE will ALL be experiencing JOY, or FEAR. I guess, it will depend on our actions now, as to how we will feel later?

  11. Ronald Joseph says:

Well I think the last chapter of the book of Daniel states that these things will be hidden until the LAST DAYS? Daniel 12/4 He said to me, “And now, Daniel, close the book and put a seal on it until the end of the world. Meanwhile, many people will waste their efforts trying to understand what is happening.” 12.4: Rev 22.10

    Hey Tony
Thanks for your article: an interesting read, but I think before you blog, you need to do a little more research:
First of all the ancient Jews did pass down the “first five books of the bible” – actually the Torah – through strict tradition and very well monitored procedure, but not orally – written. In fact Jesus later on states in the Bible that not one jot or title will be lost. The Torah is the ONLY written “classic” piece of work that has not changed through generational translation; unlike Shakespeare’s work, the Koran, the Bible, and more.

Second of all, I have just finished watching the DVD you mention in your article and noticed how the researchers of the Bible Code warn heavily against using the code for prediction purposes – since they don’t know what future events “to look for”, as they haven’t obviously occured yet. Yes there is written something about 2012, but then again they draw an equivalent with what the code said about the Al Gore Bush election: there may be something else written there that they haven’t found yet which may complete/change the meaning of this prediction.

Also the codes do exist: they are true, but whether we should rely on them for prediction is another story. It’s like saying, “I know you’re a life-saver, I see your swimming certificates, but I don’t know if I can trust you to save me from drowning in this pool.”

However, back to your comments, I think what you asked about, “why codes?” is very interesting!! The bible speaks of the hidden book (in Daniel) that would be “sealed until the last days when these events start to unfold”. Perhaps this is it? Perhaps not. Also so what if these things were written in plain text in the bible? Would we then believe them? When Jesus said plainly, “I am the messiah, the way the truth and the life and no-one gets to the father but by me”, we have heard/read those words a few times, but still the majority of the human race choose not to believe these words. Perhaps we don’t respond to the most straight-forward form of communication? Perhaps this is God’s 3rd movement of communication with us? (1) The 10 Commandments, and we couldn’t follow those he sent (2) Jesus, to establish a ‘relationship’ between man and God, but we’ve thrown that out the window over the last 2000 years so maybe it’s time to (3) appeal to the curious nature of man-kind, if it’s criptic, if it’s strange and eerie, perhaps then we might believe it?

Why any of this in the first-place? Well, what’s the meaning of life…?
You either believe it, or you don’t.

  13. cecilia (subscribed) says:

The word Torah means “instruction”. The Torah that Jews use to study, is Sefer Ha-Torah which is a book. The Torah, the one said to have existed at the beginning with the Creator according to the Kabbalah is the blueprint of the universe. A kind of conceptual/mathematical knowledge that has been represented in the Hebrew letters Alef-Tav, the way we represent concepts as numbers. Alef-Tav describes the forces that appeared in the beginning of creation and their relational order of appearance.

Meaning Alef- number 1 is Spirit, or in some interpretations Might. It is represented by the Ox, for the ox’s strength was used to till the agricultural soil. It is very much like the term HORSEPOWER of today.

Bet, which is number 2 is IN or House. It is the ancestor of the letter B and may be, pertaining to the houses of the early semites or in my opinion the womb of the woman, the house of a baby– hence the pregnant woman’s look of letter B. It symbolizes the aspect of creation when one becomes two.

And so on and so forth.

It said in the Oral Tradition, the world was created with the Letter Bet, and not with ALef. This is true, for the universe is created with one energy expressed in two ways, wave and particle. Without the dance between wave and particle, there will be no matter, no universe–just force.

The Oral Torah is not the bible. It is a body of knowledge that is being described in the Bible presented as stories.

Before the Torah became a source of faith, it was a source of knowledge of the universe. We do not know when and where it came from, only that if read properly, it is talking about things we are only barely beginning to understand today.

If the end is coming in 2012, that only means it is time we start recording what we know in stone now, so that the future world can decode it again.

  14. Israfel Questin says:

it’s not what the bible said; first there will be a great war bet. the king of the north and the king of the south, after that, anti-christ will come to save the world from economic crisis, many people will follow him, bow to him and his image bec. they just want to save their own safety, most especially businessman, politician, and great people. anti-christ will conquer the world for 3 and a half year, and then there will be a total black out around the world, then the day of the Lord God Almighty will comes next.

  15. kima says:

Prophecy, predictions, bible code or whatever it is, we are the one who should be ready for anything. If you or me die today or tomorrow, its the end of the world for us……..there’s nothing to be scared or afraid of if you have Jesus Christ in your life. He is the only way to have an eternal life.

  16. Joe says:

It may or may not come. Tho extinctions are a fact, man is a survivor and many will survive if a Doom Comet hit. But Id not worry, there is nothing we can do about it if so. I wonder if our scientists and beauracrats will even tell us poor people if it is coming. Save themselves first.
