Bier gets expensive

July 3, 2008 by Chris

I’ve already ranted about the effect of alternative fuel legislation on barley and hops, and therefore on the production of beer. Now it seems that higher energy prices have hit the European end user as well, at least according to this report from the International Herald Tribune.

I’ve seen it at the local beer distributor, too. A case of locally made brew now costs in the mid-$30 range instead of the mid to upper $20 range it used to cost. I’ve been trying to do my part, though, by purchasing more locally brewed beers and cutting back on some of those European imports.

Anybody else notice their beer pricing rising?
