In an attempt to highlight the success of the United States government’s work to improve health in countries around the planet, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is launching the “Living Proof Project: U.S. Investments in Global Health are Working”. At LivingProofProject.org, you can learn more about people around the world whose lives have been saved by U.S. health programs.
Melinda Gates hopes that this program will convince Americans to keep up the good work despite the harsh economic realities the country is facing.
Said Gates: “Bill and I are convinced that American funding for global health is working, because we have witnessed the results first-hand. We think if more Americans learn about progress in global health, they’ll be inspired to maintain these investments — even in difficult economic times — so that we can do even more.”
According to the Living Proof Project, the United States government have saved millions of lives in poor countries — especially in terms of fighting AIDS and malaria. Specifically, 1.2 million lives have said to be saved thanks to the Emergency Plan for Aids Relief.
Said Bill Gates: “We want to show Americans that their investments in global health are working.”
To get the point across, LivingProofProject.org features personal profiles, online videos, interactive web pages and photo galleries.
