I still want my ninjas.

Sadly, gameplay does it for me. The last time I chose story over gameplay was Final Fantasy VII. The result? I loved the epic story! I almost cried when Aeris died (SPOILER!), but I never dared touch the game again.

Not unless Square makes an FFVII remake and changes the gameplay dynamics. But I digress.

I agree as well. While BioShock is indeed fun, the real meat of the game lies in the underlying story and the discovering the who, what, where, when and why. The gameplay itself can get a little tedious at times.

However, I found that as I played through the game, it really started to grow on me. I find myself growing more and more satisfied by lighting Splicers on fire, taking their picture, then electrocuting them when they hit the water.

For me, the end will justify the means. If the story ends well, all will be forgiven in my books. And I'll most likely give the game another run through on a harder difficulty.

Thank you! It breaks my heart to see that Bioshock isn't that good. Now, the mediocrity is beginning to settle in. Add in my motion-sickness, and we got ourselves a new item to sell in eBay.

I'm beginning to wish that I didn't get Bioshock, and waited for Gears of War instead.

I agree. Up to a certain point the beauty and atmosphere of the game succeeds in masking the lack of variety in its cannon fodder, but eventually you realise that there's not much difference between the different types of splicers.
Even though 2K have gone to great lengths to recreate the game mechanics of System Shock 2, the least they could have done was to make sure that we had some interesting enemies to club with our wrench.
