I would like some protection on my laptop.

Keep a budget!
Sometimes people I know send me e-mail that looks questionable, since they usually contain one sentence and end with Click Here. Instead of clicking on a potentially bad link, I’ll e-mail them and ask them if the suspicious e-mail really came from them. I also mention that I won’t click a funny link in an e-mail unless they write something to let me know that it’s really from them. It may be a bit paranoid, but it’s worked for me.
Don’t surf naked. It amazes me how many people go without virus protection/firewalls. Even though cost is so low compared to effects of not having.
I agree abou not being repared. As in life you need to be prepared. This is one way to help.
Always use virus protection!

These days, security is a must. Always use updated virus protection and keep back-up files on a separate source. Thanks for the chance to enter – great prize!
With all the scam people on the internet it is foolish not to have some protection- for kids AND adults! An investment that pays off a thousand times over!
If you use tax software online to complete your taxes, double check everything! I used eSmart Tax by Liberty Tax for my 2007 taxes, and the software failed to add in my 1099-misc totals so I underpaid and had to pay a penalty. Reviewing my account, it shows “total must be manually entered,” which is an option I never would have selected. It’s some kind of glitch in the software, and I’m filing to see if they’ll cover the penalties (they have a guarantee), but I don’t know if they’ll insist it was my own fault. I trusted that since I entered all the information, the totals were correct. I learned from that mistake! So, that’s my tip, don’t trust the software!
I try to keep very careful records, especially since I have a business and personal taxes to do!
Have your security software update automatically

Do regular scans on your computer to keep it running it’s best :)
You have got to be kidding me… talk about overkill.
I do a weekly scan, it’s sufficient. :)
