We kick off our Tax Week contests today by giving away three copies of the F-Secure Internet Security 2009 software. This software offers protection against online threats, particularly phishing scams and malicious software that could threaten personal information and data through online banking and shopping. F-Secure Internet Security 2009 offers 24/7 customer support, antispyware, parental control, firewall and many more protective features that enhance and safeguard your online banking, shopping and surfing experience.

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment here on this post with any type of tax, money management, internet security, computer or other type of tip that might interest other readers. Or just leave any sort of helpful comment.

This giveaway will run through Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11:59pm ET. Three random winners will be selected from all the entrants to win the F-Secure Internet Security 2009 software. As an added bonus, each of the three winners will also receive an F-Secure 1 GB memory stick and backpack.

Sometimes people I know send me e-mail that looks questionable, since they usually contain one sentence and end with Click Here. Instead of clicking on a potentially bad link, I’ll e-mail them and ask them if the suspicious e-mail really came from them. I also mention that I won’t click a funny link in an e-mail unless they write something to let me know that it’s really from them. It may be a bit paranoid, but it’s worked for me.

  8. Micheal says:

Don’t surf naked. It amazes me how many people go without virus protection/firewalls. Even though cost is so low compared to effects of not having.

With all the scam people on the internet it is foolish not to have some protection- for kids AND adults! An investment that pays off a thousand times over!

  35. Auriette says:

If you use tax software online to complete your taxes, double check everything! I used eSmart Tax by Liberty Tax for my 2007 taxes, and the software failed to add in my 1099-misc totals so I underpaid and had to pay a penalty. Reviewing my account, it shows “total must be manually entered,” which is an option I never would have selected. It’s some kind of glitch in the software, and I’m filing to see if they’ll cover the penalties (they have a guarantee), but I don’t know if they’ll insist it was my own fault. I trusted that since I entered all the information, the totals were correct. I learned from that mistake! So, that’s my tip, don’t trust the software!

  36. Sonya says:

I try to keep very careful records, especially since I have a business and personal taxes to do!

  45. Gianna says:
