BlogHer08: Best. Conference. Ever.

(www.bizchicksrule.com) — Despite the fact that I was something of a minority as a non-mommyblogger amid hundreds of baby-toting mammas, I had a BLAST at BlogHer08 in San Francisco. The Who We Are track was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions about blogging on your passions, "coming out" (or exposing your vulnerability) through blogging, and, during the Day-3 Unconference, blogging without boundaries and expectations.
One of the coolest things about the experience, aside from the fact that I got to learn more about how to get better at doing something I love, was interacting with these women who are sharing their lives online. It was a fascinating dynamic. They come from different places, different experiences, different backgrounds, but they — we — all have something in common: We love to write.
Whatever you do for a living, or whatever you WANT to be doing, there are other people out there who love it, too. Connect with them. Learn from them. I met amazing entrepreneurs and mompreneurs who all had a story to tell and something to teach me. I’ve never felt so smart or so dumb at the same time. Really, it was a great experience.
You can see my video blog posts about the conference at my freelance writing blog, Inkthinker:

I’ll be posting a wrap-up video as soon as I can get my Internet to stop timing out every time I try to upload it. Who’d a thunk hotel wi-fi would be faster than my own? Sigh. The cost of living in rural Virginia… ;)

It was great to meet your Kristen! And lots of fun hanging out.
Kristen, I enjoyed your updates. I’ve heard such good things about this conference — maybe next year I’ll attend.
So great to finally meet you! And thanks for grabbing that shirt for me. I hope next time we’ll get to talk a bit more. I didn’t know you were Dana’s roommate. She seems pretty cool.
I also felt like I was a minority in the sea of mom bloggers, but it was still a great experience. I hope that as the conference grows the diversity of subject matter in the blogs represented continues to evolve.
@Mary Jo – You too! I had so much fun with you and CJ at Lefty O’Douls. :)
@Diana – It was a really great experience. Not sure where it will be next year, but I hope you’ll be able to make it.
@Becky – Right back atcha! Your kiddo is such a cutie pie. And yes, Dana is definitely cool. :)
@Jill – Amen, sister!
I was also a non mommy blogger but I had a blast. I liked that they had different tracks. I didn’t have to go to any of the mommy sessions.
