Boeing Workers Postpone Strike

Union Leaders Blame Bad Weather, Missing Part For Delay

A planned Boeing strike was delayed today when officials said bad weather prevented union organizers from showing up on time.  A union spokesman also said the union was missing a key part for making picket signs but that the part was expected to arrive overnight on an Airbus flight.

“Sure, it’s frustrating,” said rank-and-file member Rusty Keys, “I was all set to start a strike after I got off work and now I’ve lost at least a day to these unplanned delays.  I just hope they don’t lose my strike pay in all the shuffling around.”

A Boeing strike is expected to cost the company nearly $100 million dollars a day and cause airlines to add another fee to routine travel.  United Airlines, Continental and Jet Blue have already announced they will be charging passengers a $45 “Getting Older Fee” to help defray the cost of maintaining their aging fleets.

And that’s just the flight attendants, there’s a separate fee for the planes…
