Book Giveaway: Escape from Cubicle Nation

One of my favorite authors is Pam Slim. I’ve been reading Pam for almost 3 years, ever since she wrote an open letter to employees across the world. She was nice enough to contact me back when I was the community manager at a project called 100 Bloggers and enter to win a copy of my book.

Fast forward 3 years, and now Pam’s book is out, and it is FANTASTIC! I’ve thumbed through the whole book and I really love what I’ve read thus far. It’s inspired, inspiring, and powerful stuff for anyone looking to bust out of the corporate rat race and do their own thing.

As soon as Escape from Cubicle Nation came out, I rushed to buy a copy, for I knew this masterpiece was one I had to read and savor. As one of Pam’s faithful readers, I also had the opportunity to get an extra copy to give away to a friend. And you, dear readers, are my friends.

Before I give you the skinny on how you can win a copy of this book, I wanted to give you a few more resources from Pam, so in case you don’t win, you realize you NEED to buy this book for yourself

How can you win?

Tell me why you need this book or what your plans are for moving from corporate prisoner to thriving entrepreneur.

  1. Tell me why you need this book or what your plans are for moving from corporate prisoner to thriving entrepreneur …

    Where do I start …

Cube farms are like animal cages for humans (only because chaining people to their desk may constitute cruel and unusual punishment). Then there are the prairie dogs whos heads pop up (no sense of privacy in a cube farm)! Also living in a cube farm is like living in Dilbertville.

Moving into entrepreneurship … First is to figure out what you want to do and if there is a market for your product and/or service. I’m sorry but my MBA education is flaring up! And because of my MBA, I am a more of an independent thinking rather than being a willing (brainless) cogg in the corporate machinery.

Then there is the issue of money … I know that if I wanted to start my own computer services company that I know the personnel that I would want with me and who these individuals are. I have been offered a ‘following’ by several people if I were to leave my current employer. So if there is anyone out there who is wanting to open a computer services office in my area … I can provide the leadership/management along with a full range of staff from help desk, desktop, networking to programming!

I hate working for the man. I’m slowing building up my outside business so I can work for myself. Although I know once you work for yourself you become a 24 hour a day worker, it can’t be worse than making someone else rich.

    Hi Phil,

Have been thinking a lot about this 9-5 jobs and have worked/working now from past 8.5 years.

I always wanted to pursue my dream but did not have the guts to take a plunge ,but now having been forced to think and take a decision i may give it a try as i have realised that its only one life and i need to try and purse what ever i want to do.

Bcoz Later on after some years, looking back I should not feel bad that i have not tried .

So i would really enjoy this book as i have read the chapter 3 of this book and was very impressed.

As always you inspire with your weekly articles and i still remember the first gift you sent of Rajesh Setty.

Am i elgible to get one of this book .

    Thanks,
    vikram

  8. Heather S says:

  9. Jamey says:

Very interesting. I’m in the process of working on a start-up project with a friend and we’re exploring the in’s and out’s of escaping the corporate to entrepreneur. We think we have the courage and a great idea, it’s bridging the gap from dream to reality. Hopefully this will help point the way.

I think my current cubicle-work does not pay me enough to even grant me the luxury of purchasing this book.

I need this book so I do not become a Dilbert.
