Bookish tags

Over at the 800CEOREAD blog, Todd is pitching the idea of using a single technorati tag to identify posts with business book references, reviews, etc.  His idea is to use the tag when writing about, well,  business  books.

It’s a good idea, provided it spreads around a bit.  But that can happen fast once a few folks start picking it up.  The alternative is probably a combination of the generic "books" tag and the equally generic "business" tag.  I suspect that a lot of books would get missed since folks would be likely to forget one or the other.  Not to mention posts getting buried in the "books" tag.

Anyway, I think there is some unspoken rule against everyone agreeing on a tag.  It’s not very anarchic.  But it is effective and, despite my affection for anarchy, I’m in…

  1. Quick clarification: I believe that the suggestion from 800-CEO-READ was to add the “businessbooks” tag to del.icio.us, not technorati. I’ve actually done the same thing to the tag “appliedthinking” which is defined here: http://appliedthinking.typepad.com/appliedthinking/2005/03/delicious_defin.html

    I love both del.icio.us and the tagging idea…these are powerful ways to sift through all of the data out there.
