Boxing Announcer Michael Buffer Recovering From Cancer Surgery

Famed boxing announcer Michael Buffer, most well known for his “Are you ready to rumble?” catchphrase, has undergone surgery to remove cancer tumors. The tumors were located in Buffer’s throat and next.

Buffer, who acknowledged that the cancer was detected in February, had this to say to Yahoo:

“I am recovering well and feel stronger every day,” Buffer said in a statement. “The early detection prevented any spread that would have jeopardized my vocal ability. I am looking forward to being back in the ring next week as Bernard Hopkins faces Joe Calzaghe on HBO from Las Vegas (on April 19). The support and encouragement for a return to good health received from my friends and members of the sports promotion and broadcasting community was overwhelming and greatly appreciated.”
