Branding and Networking

Branding does not live in a bubble. It does not live in the batcave under your office. When you create a brand it is a living, breathing thing…so why are you not sharing it with other living, breathing things (like people)?

I don’t mean show up at a networking event and say things like, “My brand is….” or “Our branding is such that…”

That would be like talking about someone in the third person when they’re standing right next to you. Think of your brand as your Networking Buddy and bring it with you wherever you go. Introduce people to your brand without shoving it down their throats.

At Behind the Buzz, Rachel has a great post called 5 lessons in promoting your brand. The first one alone gave me a little shiver, because it really is that important:

1. The absolute best channel to promote anything is one-on-one personal conversation with somebody you already have some sort of relationship with.

Viola! Networking!

Take a look at the other four tips, they’re great – and share your brand with someone before everyone forgets what you do for a living.
