Brett Favre in College

This weekend is thought by many to be the most exciting weekend in football. Of course, there aren’t any college games going on – it is all about the NFL playoffs. (*Insert debate about college ball needing a playoff system here*) I thought it would be fun to look back on the top 8 teams’ quarterbacks. What were they like in college?

 Brett Favre

Brett Favre, Green Bay
Favre attended Southern Mississippi, the only school offering him a scholarship. They pushed him to play defense, but he insisted on playing QB. So, they agreed…and he became their new seventh-string quarterback. With some luck, he got to play in the third game of the season against Tulane, and the coaches were astounded by his skills, even though he was hungover (hey, wouldn’t you drink too if you weer SEVENTH string?). Favre began starting quarterback, and remained in that position during his entire time at Southern Miss. During his senior year, he was in a near-fatal car accident, but even that didn’t keep this all-stat down, and he bounced back to once again lead the team. He was drafted by the Falcons during the second round.
