Brett Leonhardt Living a Nerd’s Dream

Brett Leonhardt woke up Friday morning as a website producer for the Washington Capitals. By the afternoon, Leonhardt was the backup goalie for the Capitals. Leonhardt was needed to fill in since starting goalie Jose Theodore got injured and Simeon Varlamov, the player who would have usually been the replacement backup goalie, wouldn’t have been at the arena on time to serve as the backup.
For those of us who are sports website producers, this is the ultimate dream. Just to make it official — if any professional sports team needs an emergency replacement, I am available. I don’t really care which sport or which position, I’ll be a call away. Hit me up via email or leave a comment on the blog and I’ll be at the playing field ASAP.
Leonhardt wasn’t a total newbie to the goalie position. He played third division hockey and was his team’s goalie. At 6-foot-7, if Leonhardt ever plays in an NHL game, he’ll be the tallest goalie in the history of the league.
I’m not quite 6-foot-7 but give me some pads and I’ll do my best to get in the way of the puck.
