British Woman Makes Two Aces in Same Round

Who said golf was hard? Well, pretty much everyone who has ever played the game, that’s who. And undoubtedly the greatest single achievement for the casual golfer has to be the hole-in-one. Most players go their entire golfing life without scoring an ace, and those that are lucky enough to attain that most difficult of scores can remember every minute detail of the shot (I made mine in a tournament, on the sixth hole, 9-iron, landed right of the green, kicked left, rolled in the side of the hole). So, if one ace in a round is tough, the odds of getting two in the same round must be astronomical. Try odds of 67 million to 1, according to Golf Digest. But don’t tell that to Ruth Day, the British woman who nailed two aces in the same round last week, at Whitley Bay Golf Club in England.

Day, a 64-year-old retiree, made her first hole-in-one on the 149-yard third hole, then followed with her second ace on the 161-yard 13th. Not bad for someone who has only been golfing for 10 years.
What may be even more amazing is that this is the second time this feat occurred that week. At a Pittsburgh Pirates alumni golf tournament, former Bucs pitcher Steve Blass also scored a pair of aces, his coming in a span of 11 holes.
