“Brothers” Trailer

Have you seen the trailer for the upcoming movie Brothers?  If you haven’t, you need to!  The film has a strong cast led by Tobey Maguine, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhall and looks like these three might be delivering their best performances to-date.

The plot revolves around family man, Captain Sam Cahill (Maguire), a Marine who is sent on his fourth tour of duty and must leave the comfort of his home with his wife, high school sweetheart Grace (Portman), and their two young daughters.

After his Black Hawk helicopter is shot down, it is presumed that Sam has died and Grace is left trying to pick up the pieces.  She is surprised when Sam’s less responsible, drifter of a brother, Tommy (Gyllenhaal), pitches in to try to help out with the girls in the wake of their father’s death.  Tommy has just gotten out of jail and maybe he’s ready for a fresh start.  Whatever it is, the change in his behavior and the rawness of the situation smoothes over the years of discord between Grace and Tommy who suddenly find themselves attracted to each other at the worst of times.

Just when things seem to be settling, Grace gets a shocking telephone call.  Sam isn’t dead – he had been captured by the Taliban and was found alive.  When he returns home, he realizes that things are not the same.  When he discovers the nature of the relationship between Grace and his younger brother, things get downright scary.  In a situation like this, it’s hard to take sides but I can only imagine how angry and hurt Sam would feel after all that he’s been through.
