While many of the players on the PGA tour opted out of this week’s Canadian Open, others are announcing their commitment to play in the upcoming Buick Open. The tournament runs through August 2nd at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, just outside of Flint, Michigan. Tiger Woods is the latest tour pro to announce his participation in the event. By playing in the Buick open, it seems as though Woods is determined to play in the two tournaments preceding the PGA Championship. Sandwiched between the Buick Open and the season’s final major is the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone, an event that Tiger has won six times.

Joining Woods at Warwick Hills are David Duval, Boo Weekley and Billy Mayfair. Previous commitments have come from U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover, Jim Furyk, Justin Leonard and Scott Verplank.
One person not making the trip to Grand Blanc, Michigan is Kenny Perry, who chose to skip the tournament he won last year to be with his ailing mother as she continues her ordeal with blood cancer.
