Building Residual Income – I Get So Distracted!

Residual IncomeOn May 27th, I declared to the world my intention to create a solid stream of residual income. I even have a nice handful of products that, with proper marketing, could act as the basis of a constant stream of, eventually, significant money.

In the last 11 days since that post I’ve done… almost nothing toward my goal. Sigh. I got all distracted. First, I realized that I hadn’t changed my contact information on my other websites, particularly www.aboutfreelancewriting.com, www.writingwithvision.com and www.annewayman.com. I did get that mostly done. But I also realized that updating www.writingwithvision.com is a horrid chore because of the way it’s designed… my fault; I threw it together for a class and haven’t done anything since but add some articles.

So I have developed a plan to move it and www.powerfullyrecovered.com to a blog format – and ended up this morning wondering why I wanted to do that… more thinking/planning and visioning to do.

Meanwhile, I stopped working on the new book – why do we stop when we know we want to finish something? I also took a two day trip for a client, and, and, and so it goes.

So back to plan A, and back to work on the book. I think that really is the primary, number one thing I need to do for residual income.

I SO identify with this post. I wish I had answers. All I can say is I empathize. I guess one thought that occurs to me is to do a Barbara Sher-like support group (Wishcraft is the name of her book)…in which everyone gets what she wants and is held accountable for taking steps to get there. I did this once, in the ’80s, and the folks in our group really did take action on their goals. So I guess I’m writing this response for both of us. And I’ll need to take my own advice!

Hi Joanne, yes, accountability partners or something like that seems to be a requirement almost… I’ve actually got something like that started, but it’s just started so I don’t know how long we’ll be together or how well we’ll work, etc. etc. etc. but it’s a start for sure!

oh and I love Wishcraft! have used that book off and on for ages.

  4. Oh absolutely! I am sometimes amazed at how much time can pass from the time I plan to do something to the time I remember I had planned on doing it ;)

I keep a list of “big” projects for me that I can look at daily to remind of what I could be working on if ever I have some free moments…rare, but sometimes it happens ;)

I’m thinking I need to carve out an hour a day just for residual income projects… haven’t done it yet, but am seriously considering it.
