Business Channel Theme Day – Graduations and New Beginnings

June is definitely the month for graduations and new beginnings, and it is our theme today here at the Business Channel for B5Media! Whether you are a high school graduate or a college graduate you will find recommendations, tips, quotes, stories and more from the Business Channel bloggers for the class of 2007.
Only Sean Kelly of Franchise Pick has the courage to expose the scam of higher education in this courageous article, Wise Up! Skip College. Buy a Franchise! According to Sean, every college graduate knows, deep down, that their college education was a waste of time, money and brain cells.
As you spend time, investing brain cells on the scam, I would encourage you to start putting the pennies away for little ones you may consider sending to those institutions of higher education. Kelly Phillips Erb over at Taxgirl, has put together an excellent resource for any parent contemplating the cost of sending children to college. She discusses 529 plans and how to save for college – without breaking the bank.
From saving money to acceptance letters and freshman year. Jonathan Farrington at Leadership Turn interviews his son Joe Farrington, who looks back on his first year at Cambridge University – “Chariots of Fire” or “Brideshead Revisited” it is not! “A Fresher’s Reflections”.
Speaking of reflections, Jim Norton over at Small Business Boomers shares a recap of the graduation speech at the DePaul University graduation for the School of Music and the Performing Arts.
Now that the speeches are over it’s time to do something with your life. But what’s next? Now what? How about getting a job! Darlene McDaniel, that’s me, here at Interview Chatter shares tips for Post Graduation Interviews. When you prepare for your interview, it will net a new job. Are you ready?
What are you thinking about? Mark Wade at Workboxer has an excellent post that will give you a New Way of Thinking. He offers some thoughts, to those graduates or new workers who’ve felt down, confused, scared or even lost. The future is a big deal to some, right? RIGHT!
Tris Husssey at Pimp Your Work, contrast the MySpace Generation and the current workforce. Younger employees — like that new batch of college grads hitting the market right now — are going to be pushing employers to use Web 2.0 technologies on the job.
People are re-inventing themselves at various points in their lives and businesses need to re-invent themselves and their products and services, to meet the rapid changes in their technological, social, political and business environments. Des Walsh, at Business and Blogging, pulls together an old song, Finnegan Begin Again to help us in with our new beginnings.
With the “real world” looming large, there are many options available to the class of 2007. Here are a few ideas for graduates who may be considering a home business as they look toward their future. Mary Emma at Home Biz Notes discusses, Will Graduates Start Home Businesses?
How about Freelancing? Rico Moussesgeld at Contract Worker has a real testimony of jumping into Freelance work directly out of college. How Soon Should You Freelance Exclusively? You decide!
Maricel Ferrer-Custodio at Property Crossroads discusses 10 Steps To Kick Start Your Real Estate Millions. Click on the links in this post and learn from our resident expert.
As June comes to an end, and you move forward into new challenges, new relationships, and new beginnings, remember
Graduation is only a concept. In real life every day you graduate. Graduation is a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you’ll make a difference. ~Arie Pencovici
