By The Glass: Frisky Zebras, A Tetra Pak Wine That Nails It

Tetra Pak wines are tricky business. I love the environmental justification. I hate that it looks cheap. I’m delighted by how much lighter they are to carry. But the one’s I’ve tasted in the past are just so…blah.
But, I’m happy to say that Frisky Zebras does not disappoint. While not as complex and interesting as some of my favorite traditionally bottled varieties, the proper amount of acidity capped off a delicious blend of grapefruit and oranges. Surprisingly refreshing, this South African wine from Leopard Frog Vineyards confirms for me at least that Tetra Paks are not something to necessarily refuse – even if I will continue to test them out carefully until I encounter a few more out there that are this enjoyable.

Hi Rachel
My name is David Bate, I am the owner of the United Nations of Wine, which makes Frisky Zebars. I also own Leopard Frog Vineyards, which is the sister cellar to United Nations of Wine.
Thanks for your positive comments on Frisky Zebras. We are constantly trying to improve our offering and appreciated your comments. We are currently blending our new release and will incorporate your comments into our tasting notes to try and see if we cannot improve upon your already positive experience.
With best wishes
David
Hi David!
Thanks for stopping by – you guys are doing a great job and I’ve been delighted to recommend Frisky Zebras both in this forum and with people I speak to in person. It’s a wonderful choice in a tricky market that I’m looking forward to watching develop as people slowly realize that an alternative to a glass bottle does not necessarily equate to compromised flavor.
Cheers!
Rachel
