Can Your Customers Find You?

How easy is it for customers to find you? They used to say the most important thing about your business was location, location, location. Where you were located could make or break your business. That’s still true today, but these days you need to look at your physical location, and your online locations.find

Getting people to find your business online can be just as difficult as getting them to find your actual store front if you have one. If you build it they will come is not necessarily true in real life or online.

You have to promote your online store, as much as you do a brick and mortar shop. If you’re used to marketing your store offline, you shouldn’t have a problem with the idea of marketing your online store too. Here are a few things you can do to make sure your online store gets found:

  • Write some something interesting about your store or something it is doing and release it to a couple of the public relations websites.
  • Offer to do a guest post at a popular blog related to your niche, or offer some information on your products to see if it can tie into a story there.
  • Produce an interesting video.
  • Participate in popular social network sites like Facebook and Twitter.
  • The search engines are your friend. Make sure you have good descriptions written about your products, or even a blog pointing visitors back to your store and the search engines will find you and send potential customers to your online store.

Whatever you choose to do, you can’t just do it once and say you tried, but no one found your website. Marketing online is just like marketing offline, you have to keep at it. Eventually your efforts will pay off with customers, and if you treat those customers well, more will follow.

It takes time for customers to find you, if you go looking for customers and bring them to your door it can speed up the process, but it still takes a little time to get things rolling.
