Canada’s Lamaze Wins Equestrian Jumping Event!

Olympics Day 13 - Equestrian

Canada’s gold medal count increased again today when Eric Lamaze won the men’s individual show-jumping competition at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.  He beat Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in a jump-off.  American Beezie Madden took the bronze Thursday after winning a seven-way jump-off.

Lamaze missed the last two Games due to positive drug tests.  He felt that he was a great example as a result of this: "When you give people chances and allow them to come back from their mistakes, great things happen and I’m a perfect example that you shouldn’t give up on people."

I couldn’t agree more.

Just for your information there is actually no Men’s equestrian event, both the men and women compete together

Thanks for pointing that out. :-)
