Canadian Investment Resources

Agoracom
The Internet is chock-a-block with places to find investment news, information, data and advice. In Canada, there a bunch of major players such as the Report on Business and Financial Post. As well, there a growing number of smaller players working hard to find a niche among investors looking for an edge/something different.

Some of the more interesting sites includes Agoracom, which bills itself as “the Web 2.0 online marketplace and forums for citizens of the small-cap investment community”. The site focuses on small-cap public companies, and offers tools such as Webcasts and podcasts. What’s interesting is Agoracom’s business model does not depend on advertising. Instead, it gets most of its revenue from publicly-traded companies that use Agoracom for things such as issuing press releases.

A newly-launched site is Daily Buy-Seller Adviser that offers digests of investment advisory letters from firms in North America and overseas. The site is part of MPL Communications, which also operates adviceforinvestors.com.
