At least not in Central PA.

The 12 man race for the PA 5th district is now down to 2.

And those who were victorious were those who stayed out of the muck and, apparently, out of the bank.

Republican health care professional, Glenn Thompson, beat out big spenders, Matt Shaner and Derek Walker. The Centre Daily Times reports that Thompson spent $20,000 on his campaign, while Shaner spent $1.2 million and Walker shelled out around $800,000. Separating himself from the field of 9 candidates, Thompson won the race with 19% of the vote; Walker (who came in 2nd) and Shaner (who came in 3rd) each received 18%.

The Democratic Nominee, Clearfield County Commissioner, Mark McCracken, spent the least of all candidates, from both parties. His campaign spending totalled a whopping $8,800.
