Carbon Motors Corp. is a startup automotive company with an expertise in police cars. They bill themselves as a homeland security company that will design, manufacture and service recycled vehicles that will be used for law enforcement purposes.
Recently, they announced that they are close to picking a Carbon Motors Corp. site. The final three states in contention are South Carolina, Indiana and Georgia. According to Carbon Motors Corp., approximately 10,000 jobs and a $3 billion economic impact are at stake.
“We are honored and tremendously appreciative to have such great choices on where to produce the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle for our nation’s law enforcement first responders,” said William Li, the chairman and CEO of Carbon Motors Corp. “Additionally, it is very important that we recognize and extend our appreciation to Governor Jennifer Granholm (D-MI) and Governor Bev Perdue (D-NC), their respective teams, as well as the citizens and first responders of the State of Michigan and the State of North Carolina for their interest in Carbon Motors.”
With so many traditional automakers in troubles, we’ve seen a higher than usual amount of startup automotive companies. Carbon Motors Corp. is another one in that line.
