We came to the conclusion that a lot of games just take too much time investment these days. The "hardcore gamers" of 18-20 years ago were playing Super Mario 3 (beatable in under an hour), Tetris (start at level 1, and you'll reach your top skill level in maybe 30 minutes), and other such games. Now the training missions take a couple hours. There's too much focus on making "serious" games that have a single, long campaign mode instead of making things fun over and over again with a minimal time commitment. Those are now deemed "casual" games. Make no mistake about it, though, the difference between "hardcore" and "casual" is in the gamer, not the game.
