Catching on Fire: My Winning Poker

I told you I felt good about the way I played at Bonerack’s.  Well that play has carried over to my online play.  I had originally bought in for $85 and lost it all.  I rebought in for $50 and now my bank roll is at $125 after withdrawing $85.  Needless to say, I’ve been playing quite well to regail you with such a turnaround.

The reason I took out the $85 was because I’m hoping not to need it again.  Plus, after awhile you have to take out some of your earnings.  You really don’t have the money until you withdraw it and if you keep your winnings in, you’re more likely to get sloppy on your play.

One key run that fueled my revival was winning three straight sit-n-gos.  A 9 player, a 6 player, and another 9 player.  You don’t just win 3 sit-n-gos in a row by accident so I know I’m playing very sharp.

I also made a good showing on a $12 turbo, 180-man tournament.  I won 6th place in this tournament for $99.  I am somewhat disappointed in this as the money really starts piling up as you advance, but its definitely better than getting out 36th.

I’ve played some heads up action at varying levels and I think I’m slightly ahead, but right now it looks like my best money is at the multi player competition levels.  I believe I am excelling here because of my patience and aggression when in the pot.

The area where I was destroyed was cash games.  I need to stay away from these for awhile.  When I first bought in for $85, I headed to the $0.05/$0.10 no limit games and lost about $50 by playing very loose.  I made a lot of all-in calls and played any marginal starting hand and it cost me.  It didn’t help that it was 3 a.m. and I was just playing to play.  When I play just to play, I am my worst enemy.

However, I have fixed that and am playing really well ever since the home game.  Hopefully, my winning ways can continue.

This is the starter to an excellent, excellent video series free of charge from the master, Daniel Negraneau.  Here he is teaching an advanced player how to rise to the next level.
