On Sunday, Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia threw a one-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, the Brewers are asking Major League Baseball to step in and overturn the hit so that Sabathia can have a no-hitter. As an official scorekeeper, one of the rules on errors in the game of baseball is that a play has to be made without an extraordinary effort. If extraordinary effort is required, no error shall be given to the fielder.
If you look at the play in the video below, you can clearly see that it was an ordinary play for Sabathia. A simple bounce off the mound play where you pivot and throw to first. However, Sabathia fumbled the ball and didn’t make the throw. If he should have made the play, then it is an error. There’s no question about it. The Pittsburgh official scorekeeper got this call wrong.

I think CC got robbed, but I could care less. I used to not mind the Brewers until I saw Braun and Fielder showboating against other teams. I hope the Brewers choke in the playoffs because of those two.
