Today is Earth Day and the Sundance Channel has just the lineup to help you celebrate! Sundance’s “The Green” launches today with programming that will keep you both entertained and informed.
I was able to preview some episodes of Eco Trip: The Real Cost of Living and I really enjoyed it. Check out this picture of host David de Rothschild learning about the process of making organic chocolate.
The show explores the origins and environmental impact of common everyday products. The scheduled Eco Trip episodes include “Chocolate,” “Cotton T-Shirt,” “Gold Ring,” “Paper Napkin,” “Light Bulb,” “Bottled Water,” “Cellphone” and “Salmon.” Watch a clip from the “Chocolate” episode now:
Another series, Carbon Cops, “follows six families as they are led through a fascinating step-by-step process of auditing their current use of energy in order to lessen their carbon footprint and the effects of global warming on the planet.” That is amazing because I don’t think the average person realizes the impact they are making on the environment. Incredibly, hosts Lish Fejer and Sean Fitzgerald challenge the families to reduce their domestic carbon emissions by 50%. This is a great idea for a show since it can demonstrate how easy it is to make simple changes in our lifestyles that can lead to bigger changes for our earth.
Both series premiere today on the Sundance Channel along with the documentary Flow: For The Love of Water. Make sure you also check out Isabella Rosselini’s Green Porno 2, the follow-up to her critically acclaimed short film series about the sex lives of insects (watch online now!) and the documentary Addicted to Plastic, premiering April 28, 2009.

Happy Earth Day! I wouldn’t mind tasting some of that organic chocolate.
