Fran – I don’t hate the Lakers, I guess I’m just tired of the MJ/Kobe comparisons by all the analyst and got a little carried away. You’re completely right about the “Jordan Rules” as the Pistons shut Jordan down in much of the same way that the Celtics shut Kobe down. (I did say that none of Kobe’s role players helped him out the way MJ’s did.) Posey and Pierce did play a lot of one on one on Kobe though, and he still wasn’t able to hit his shots. I stand firm in saying that MJ is and by far the greatest basketball player of all time. And I’m sorry to say that as talented as Kobe is, nobody is in MJ’s league. He is and will always remain one of a kind.

First of all, I called it!

“Kobe will never be MJ. That’s the bottom line. And his performance throughout this series proves it. Enough said.”

I think you’re suffering from selective memory (or Laker hatred). Remember the Pistons’ “Jordan Rules?” No superstar is untouchable. I think it’s lame to constantly call Kobe the new Jordan. They’re both amazing players who deserve to be remembered for their own unique style and accomplishments. But to say that Kobe isn’t in MJ’s league because a team found a way to shut him down isn’t fair either.
