Chakvetadze wins Paris Indoors Open

It took three sets for Anna Chakvetadze to win the Paris Indoors Open. The 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Agnes Szavay gave the Russian her seventh title.

Chakvetadze had to call in the trainer after losing the second set for a shoulder injury and managed to pull it together to eke out the win.

Before Chakvetadze climbed into the ring with Szavay, she took out Amelie Mauresmo (the former No. 1 – when she used to play well – when she won things…not like these days) and Marion Bartoli.

Glad to see Chakvetadze win something. Seriously. She’s No. 7 in the world. I expect her to do something with her life, get some results, do something to keep her place in the top 10. Call me crazy, but – you gotta work it to keep it.
