Change Desktop Search Default Application

September 18, 2008 by Milo Riano

Neville Hobson talks about problems he encountered with Windows Desktop Search in Vista. He says that problems are caused by background indexing processes. While I do not share his sentiments, there might be people and readers of WVW who have these issues.

In Neville’s post, he included a video on changing the Vista Desktop Search to Copernic.  Wow, Copernic! It brought memories back when I was still in College when my friend taught me about it. It’s been ages since I last heard of it.

Anyways, below is the video:

<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/kFC0JLQ9kxQ&hl=en&fs=1″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/kFC0JLQ9kxQ&hl=en&fs=1″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>

The site of Neville is here. I was trying to link to his exact post but it gave me a “Not Found” message. The title of his post is “Change default desktop search in Vista SP1″

  1. Milo, thanks for writing about my suggestion for changing the default search in Vista, even if you don’t agree with my reasoning ;)

You visited my blog on the 18th – the day I had some major service issues with DreamHost, my hosting service. The site is now fully available.

    Hello,

    No problem Neville. :)
