Channel Surfing

Why not start our journey, as Alice did through Wonderland, with an encounter with a curiously coloured, disturbingly chilling cat. No, not the Cheshire in this case, but rather Leora experimenting with The Sims 2 Pets expansion pack. Click here if you dare and enter the rabbit hole that is b5media’s video game channel.

Clear your retinas and your mind courtesy of Patrick, who treats readers to some traditional game industry eye candy. Leora’s cat will be a faint memory quashed by the babes of the Hong Kong PS3 scene.

GameIndustryWire and Play Designs team up to give you the details on a couple of competitions for eager gaming enthusiasts:

One, organized by Zero Boss and Lucas Arts, offers up a copy of Thrillville, an amusement park sim in exchange for a story about real life amusemnt park experiences. Best story = game, so get nostalgic!

The other competition should appeal to all you programmers out there dreaming about making your own game. nVIDIA and Game Creator are looking for FPS game idea submissions, and the winning entry gets that rare and slippy publishing deal.

The Adventuress (commonly known as Amber) fills us in on her rather frightening Sam & Max obsession, and announces the release of the soundtrack to Nucleosys’ creeptacular game ‘Scratches’. Ingrid and I have both had a go at this atmospheric puzzler and had a blast; I imagine the soundtrack will have just the right about of heebie jeebies as well

Matt of FPS Rantings gunned his way through FEAR: Extraction Point and compares his impressions of the sequel to the original release. After commenting on the demo earlier and having the following to say about some of the new weaponry, see if his initial excitement held up and discuss your own experience with this haunting run’n'gunner.

I believed I giggled when I picked up the minigun. Then I pulled the trigger. Pure. Unadulturated. Joy.

Oh I know that feeling.

Stay tuned for more channel surfing; for now, that’s a wrap.
