Cheap Shot Bob

When Amare Stoudemire called the Spurs a dirty team, he wasn’t talking about Robert Horry. He was talking about Bruce Bowen. He was talking about the Spurs defensive stopper. He certainly wasn’t talking about the guy whose career has basically involved standing out around the perimeter and sometimes hitting open shots. How could Robert Horry be dirty? You’d have to be near an opposing player at some point to be dirty. In game four though, it was “Big Shot Bob” who gave into frustration and tried to hurt our little Canadian friend. The bloodied, swollen-balled point guard was attacked again with 18 seconds remaining in the game. The Suns won the game, but the ensuing fracas could win the Spurs the series. You see, Amare Stoudemire left the bench to protect the guy who makes him look like an All-NBA player. (He isn’t, believe me.) In doing so, Amare could end up being suspended.
Stoudemire was caught on replays well off the bench but he said he was on his way to the scorer’s table to check in when the incident happened. He said he’s “just a little” worried about a possible suspension.”I was just doing what the coach told me. He told me to check in,” Stoudemire said. “I just got to say my prayers tonight.”
Amare left the bench, which, as we know from Van Gundy’s wild ride, is an automatic suspension. I don’t think he’ll actually get suspended, mostly because automatic really doesn’t really mean automatic, it means whatever David Stern wants it to mean.
Also, the Cavaliers went up 3-1 against the Nets or something.
