Chegg.com, a quickly growing company that allows users to rent textbooks online, set a new Guinness World Record on Saturday for the largest cardboard box in the world. The record, which was broken during the college football game between Kansas State and UCLA, was broken by Chegg.com’s box that measured 46 feet long, 20 feet wide and 9 feet tall.
The box that broke the record was made to look like the orange shipping box Chegg.com uses when fulfilling orders.
Said Tina Couch of Chegg.com: “We’re thrilled that the iconic orange Chegg box that students recognize and love is now officially the world’s largest cardboard box! But, we’re even more excited about being able to come to UCLA and talk to students about renting their textbooks. Once they hear how easy it is and how much money they can save, it’s a no-brainer.”
The prior record was 42 feet tall, 16 feet wide and 8 feet tall. To create the record-breaking box, Chegg.com had more than a dozen people working for two days.
Launched around the United States in 2007, Chegg.com has more than 2.4 million titles. For each book that is rented through their company, Chegg.com vows to plant a tree.
