Chris Bell: One More Lost Cause?

April 8, 2008 by Allison Boyer

Today, reports by the AP at ESPN and other news sources are telling us that Penn State Wide receiver Chris Bell has been kicked off the team for good after another off-field incident.

Bell, who was involved in that February suspension involving the multi-player fight off campus, allegedly threatened another student (another player?) with a knife in one of Penn State’s dining halls.

Wait, wait, wait. Let’s think about his thought process:

1. I hate him.

2. I have a knife.

3. I know where he’s eating.

4. I hate him.

5. What other diners? People can see me?

*tackle. handcuff.*

6. Crap.

Serious man. This was not a good plan. I know that Bell didn’t play much in 2007, but he did catch some passes and with the graduation of Anthony Morelli, he had a real chance to get back out there and work with the new quarterback on some plays.

I hate to hear of players throwing away their football careers (and potentially his college career in this case) over some kind of silly fight with another person. Can’t we just all be friends?
