Chris Cooley Injury Update – Ankle

The 2009 NFL season keeps getting worse for the Washington Redskins and their fans. The latest issue has star tight end Chris Cooley’s season in doubt due to a broken right ankle.
The good news for COoley is that a second opinion has given him hope that he’ll be back in as soon as a month. His first diagnosis pointed to Cooley likely being out for the season.
On Wednesday, Cooley will have surgery to insert three pins into his ankle. With Cooley out, the Redskins are running seriously low on offensive talent.
On the season, Cooley has 29 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns. Cooley leads the team in receptions and is tied with Santana Moss for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
While Cooley is out, Fred Davis will likely start at tight end. However, quarterback Jason Campbell will surely miss Cooley’s pass catching ability while he’s out of action.
