Cintiq 12WX: It’s Like Writing On Paper Only Better

While not strictly a Mac accessory or tool, I’m writing about the Cintiq 12WX because it’s just awesome. While Cintiq is not new, the 12WX is the first “affordable” model that Wacom has released. The 21UX is a great device but just too damn expensive. Priced at $2499, the 21UX was really geared to the professional who designs in his computer day in and day out. That’s probably the only way to justify the hefty price tag.
Now with 12WX, Wacom has brought Cintiq technology over to the masses. The $999 price tag is still a bit steep but it’s not ridiculous. It’s already reasonable for prosumers to set their sights on this baby.
Compatible for both Mac and PC the 12WX offers the ability to work on screen similar to working on paper. The wide screen format matches the newer laptops and monitors being released. You can tilt the Cintiq in varying degrees to reach the comfort level you desire.
It offers 1024 levels of pressure to give you the closest experience to writing on paper. It can be used in multi-monitor environments giving you flexibility.
I’m excited about this product. Finally an affordable Cintiq model.
