Circuit City Resurfaces Online

Although Circuit City no longer maintains a physical brick and mortar presence, the electronics retailer has now moved to the Internet. Systemax, Inc. purchased the Circuit City website as well as the brand name and logo through an auction for $14 million on May 13, 2009. The company, which officially closed all of its U.S. stores on March 8, promises a totally new shopping experience on its website, circuitcity.com.

According to the company, the online retailer will feature lower prices, 24/7 customer service, broad selections, and quick service. Only time will tell if customers transition to circuitcity.com in spite retailers like Best Buy and CompUSA’s online presence.

One aspect of the website that has drawn much attention, though, is its return policy. Any returns can be refused by the retailer, and if Circuit City does accept the return, the money will go exclusively toward credit that can only be used for more products on the website. Additionally, the retailer does not accept returns, for any reason, of products made by certain companies.
